Farwalker lets you walk round it, one real step at a time.

Pick your home town and a goal: any town, any country, any end of the earth. Your phone's own step counter moves a traveller along the real roads of the world, kilometre for kilometre, over its borders and across its seas. Walking from Lisbon to Moscow takes months; going round the world takes years. Free, no ads, no account.

πŸ—Ί THE REAL WORLD
β€’ 195 states and 47 other lands, 5,500 towns, roads that keep to land with every border along them
β€’ Sea lanes and the great crossings, real bridges and tunnels: the Øresund, the Channel Tunnel
β€’ 22 ends of the earth wait: Cabo da Roca, Nordkapp, Cape Horn, Cape Dezhnev, the South Pole

πŸ‘£ WALK
β€’ The phone's own step counter, with the app closed too
β€’ The step length worked out from your height, or measured by hand
β€’ The traveller walks a road kilometre for kilometre: no shortcuts, no teleports

πŸͺ™ COINS, TRAINS AND SHIPS
β€’ Every kilometre walked is a coin
β€’ A coin buys 8 km by train, from wherever you are to a station ahead, or 15 km by sea from a port
β€’ Trains and ships run on the real clock: Lisbon to New York takes about nine real days at sea

πŸ›‚ THE PASSPORT
β€’ A stamp for every border crossed, cut from the country's code
β€’ The parts of the world fill in; km on foot, by train and by sea

πŸ•° WHERE THE TRAVELLER IS
β€’ The local time where they stand, and the real weather there
β€’ News of the road: a new country, a border, a cape, a port, the end of the way

πŸ“– THE JOURNAL
β€’ Where each night was spent: on the road between two towns, on a train or at sea
β€’ The borders and the ports of every day

πŸ–‹ THE ENGRAVED ATLAS
β€’ Hatched seas, ripples along the coasts, hand-coloured borders of the countries you've stamped
β€’ The red line walked, the railway in black and white

ALSO
β€’ English and Russian
β€’ Free and open source (MIT)

Privacy: no account, no ads, no analytics. Your steps and your journey stay on your phone. The only network request is the weather where the traveller is: their map coordinates go to Open-Meteo or MET Norway, nothing else. ## Rankings - #2,283,661 β€” Overall ## Permissions and access ### Permissions - `android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE` - `android.permission.ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION` - `android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE` - `android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_HEALTH` - `android.permission.INTERNET` - `android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS` - `android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED` - `android.permission.WAKE_LOCK` - `android.permission.health.READ_HEALTH_DATA_IN_BACKGROUND` - `android.permission.health.READ_STEPS` - `app.farwalker.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION` - `com.android.vending.CHECK_LICENSE` ## Similar extensions and apps - [Wayfar: Walk the World](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.way.far) β€” 1 users - [Step World: Pedometer & Walk](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.doctrs.shagmer) β€” 43 users - [WalkWander: Virtual Travel](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.wandererappnew) β€” 28 users - [Pedometer World - Step Counter](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.ito_technologies.pedometer.world) β€” 32,135 users, 4.70 / 5 - [Walk the Earth: Step Tracker](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.realgamesrealfun.walktheearth) β€” 8 users - [Steps Around The World](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.MNPDigital.StepsAroundTheWorld) β€” 56 users - [Walk the World: Virtual Trails](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.impending.walktheworld) β€” 11,390 users, 3.00 / 5 - [StepAway: Walk the World](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.puzzle.stepaway) β€” 195 users - [Stepura: Walking Challenge](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.stepura) β€” 132 users - [Rucksack: The Walking Road](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.mohdshayan.rucksack) β€” 9 users - [Walk Places: GPS Explorer Game](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.walkplaces.app) β€” 45 users - [Walking World - Fitness Game](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.okasoft.walkingearth) β€” 14 users --- Source: [Chrome-Stats](https://chrome-stats.com/d/app.farwalker)
